Scanned Document Quality Checker
Scanned document quality checking: automatic blur, skew, crop and blank page detection for scanned PDFs, built with Python and OpenCV.
Automatically checks scanned PDFs for blur, skew, poor cropping and blank pages, so bad scans are caught before they cause rework.
The challenge
Poor scans, whether blurred, crooked, badly cropped or accidentally blank, are easy to miss in a page-by-page check and expensive to find out about later.
Our solution
We built a computer vision tool that inspects scanned PDFs automatically and flags every page that fails on image quality, whether blurred, skewed, poorly cropped or blank, so those pages can be rescanned straight away.
What it delivers
- Bad scans caught at the time of scanning
- No more manual page-by-page checking
- Cleaner archives and a better starting point for OCR
Key features
- Blur detection
- Skew detection
- Crop and margin checking
- Blank page detection
- Works directly on scanned PDFs
Where it fits
- Digitisation and records-management projects
- Scanning bureaus and archives
- Legal, finance and healthcare paperwork
- OCR and document-processing pipelines
